Norwegian Business Delegation Visits Myanmar

Last updated: 10/05/2012 // In response to requests from the Norwegian business community in the region, the Embassy in Bangkok and Innovation Norway, in collaboration with the Norwegian Business Association Singapore and Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, arranged for a fact-finding mission to Myanmar on 2-5 May.

Representatives from a group of Norwegian companies, primarily based in Bangkok and Singapore, were invited to join the delegation. The delegation visited both Nay Pyi Taw and Yangon. The mission aimed to get a better understanding of the business environment in Myanmar and to establish relationships with different stakeholders for mutually beneficial future partnerships, and to convey a message about the need for socially and environmentally sustainable investments and responsible framework conditions.

A European ASEAN Business Centre (EABC) is being established in Bangkok, Thailand. This note aims at presenting the essentials elements of the EABC. EABC is a centre aimed at facilitating market access for European business in Thailand, to promote Thailand and the ASEAN region as a high potential trade and investment marked for European business. The consortium has identified John Svengren as the Director for EABC.
