The Nordic Chamber of Commerce in Indonesia or NordCham is a membership organisation helping Nordic companies with a strong business interest in Indonesia. NordCham launched 9th September 2019. Setting up an Indonesian not-for-profit organisation is challenging and takes a long time. This is partly due to Indonesian not-for-profit laws being outdated.
Indonesian company laws, on the other hand, have been modernised significantly in recent years. With this in mind, we set up NordCham as a Singapore company (NordCham Pte. Ltd.), with a local partner in Indonesia (PT RIS). This is a similar setup to most Nordic companies present in Indonesia. The plan is to set up an Indonesian legal entity in the future, after some time of successful operation. NordCham keeps members well-informed on political, regulatory, economic, and business developments in Indonesia through our knowledge partner’s Reformasi Weekly. Indonesia Investments and Vriens & Partners and also shares relevant updates and information from the Nordic-Indonesian business community. Besides, NordCham also hosts regular chatham house rule roundtable meetings, where we discuss business challenges and what’s happening in the market with a trusted group of Nordic peers.
