A Nasal Spray Vaccine presented by Samitivej Hospital

Samitivej International Children’s Hospital (Srinakarin and Sukhumvit) offers a nasal spray vaccine
Samitivej Hospital, our corporate member, has recently introduced a new option for influenza protection –- a nasal spray vaccine.
The nasal spray vaccine is a live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV), made of weakened influenza viruses that, once entered the body, will effectively stimulate the immune system without causing any illness.
Immunity from this type of vaccine can last up to 12 months, with up to 88% protection in children and adolescents. Compared to traditional inactivated flu vaccines (TIV), the nasal spray vaccine shows approximately 55% higher effectiveness and a 63% reduction in hospitalisation rates. It is nose spray formula also makes this vaccine more appealing for children and individuals with needle anxiety.
The nasal spray vaccine can be used in individuals from age 2 to 49 who are not pregnant.
Samitivej International Children Hospital Sukhumvit and Srinakarin is currently offering one dose of nasal spray vaccine for children aged 2-18 years old.
