Trade Figures for Jan-Mar 2024 Released by Norway Connect
Norway Connect, our premium member, has shared trade statistics for Jan-Mar 2024. Full years 2019-2023 are included for comparative reasons.
Seafood exports to Thailand are up by 3% as compared to the same period last year, while fertilisers are up 56%. The high figure in import from Thailand last year was due to Aibel Thailand exporting another Doggerbank module in May. That one module was NOK 1,242 million alone and affects the figures negatively this year.
Looking at tourism to Norway, it’s also good to see that number of Thai room nights in Norway continue to improve. March was a record month with close to 5,000 room nights (against 3,900 in 2023). Room nights are now 42% over last year. Northern Norway is the region that continues to show the biggest increase with 29% over 2023. It will be interesting to see how April affect the figures, traditionally the best month of the year.
Export from Norway for 2024 is split like this:
- Seafood 49% NOK 747 million
- Fertilisers 29% NOK 446 million
- Other goods 23% NOK 341 million
- Total NOK 1,533 million (=+30%) vs export from Thailand NOK 1,047 million (-33%)
