Aibel awarded contract for Wisting
Aibel, one of our premium members, has been awarded a significant contract by Equinor and its licence partners to carry out the Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED) study for the topside modules of the Wisting production vessel. The agreement also includes an exclusive option for further engineering, procurement and project management (EPma) services.
The contract is expected to create work for approximately 250 employees at Aibel’s offices in Asker, with additional support from its team in Haugesund. Work will begin immediately and is scheduled for completion in late 2027.
Aibel’s FEED study will focus on developing and refining the design of the topside modules, providing an important foundation for the partnership’s decision on whether to proceed with the project. The agreement also includes an option for Aibel to undertake further engineering, procurement and project management activities. However, any contract for the actual fabrication of the topside modules will be awarded separately at a later stage.
Aibel President and CEO, Mads Andersen, highlighted the importance of the award, noting that it will help maintain the company’s specialist expertise following the completion of several major projects in the Norwegian continental shelf and European offshore wind sectors.
He also emphasised Aibel’s ambition to deliver a competitive concept in close collaboration with Equinor and its partners, with the aim of securing a role in the project’s execution phase.
Equinor and its partners expect to make a decision on the concept selection and the potential continuation of the Wisting development towards the end of 2026. A final investment decision is currently planned for late 2027.
