Bangchak Advances Regional Carbon Market Collaboration
Bangchak and partners at the Carbon Market Development Forum 2026
Bangchak Corporation Public Company Limited, our premium member, has announced continued progress in strengthening regional carbon market collaboration through the Carbon Markets Club (CMC), in partnership with BCPG Public Company Limited and the Macao Emission Exchange (MEX).
The initiative builds on a memorandum of understanding signed in 2025, aiming to support cross-border trading of Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) and Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction (T-VER) carbon credits. Recently, BCPG achieved a significant milestone by completing the first-ever listing of RECs and T-VER credits on the Macau platform. This development represents an important step towards integrating Thailand’s carbon credit ecosystem with international trading platforms and expanding regional collaboration.

Mrs Gloyta Nathalang, Senior Executive Vice President, Sustainability Management and Corporate Communications at Bangchak Corporation, highlighted that the recognition of Thailand’s T-VER projects in overseas markets reflects the country’s gradual progress towards regional carbon market integration. She noted that while standards are essential, their effectiveness depends on their ability to adapt across different contexts and build mutual trust among participating markets. Such trust is considered fundamental for the long-term development and scalability of carbon trading systems.
Although T-VER remains a domestic standard, its increasing presence on international platforms demonstrates opportunities to enhance market access, improve liquidity, and support Thailand’s positioning within global carbon market frameworks. Through collaborative efforts, stakeholders aim to create practical and scalable mechanisms that facilitate cross-border participation while maintaining credibility and transparency.
The Carbon Markets Club continues to play a key role in connecting standards, markets, and demand across sectors. Through initiatives such as the ASEAN Common Carbon Framework (ACCF), the organisation supports regional alignment while promoting practical implementation of carbon market linkages. These efforts contribute to advancing sustainable development and strengthening cooperation among ASEAN economies.
