Bridging Norwegian and Thai Nutraceutical Communities by Royal Norwegian Embassy and TNCC

On 17 September 2024, the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce in collaboration with Royal Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok hosted an exclusive “Welcome Reception – Bridging Norwegian and Thai Nutraceutical Communities” at the Norwegian Ambassador Residence in Bangkok with the goal of welcoming the Norwegian Nutraceutical exhibitors who participating at Vitafoods Asia 2024, which will take place from 18–20 September at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre in Bangkok.

The Welcome Reception also aimed to foster opportunities for networking with Thai Nutraceutical communities and exchanging insights about market trends. The event was highly successful, with 51 participants attending and enjoying the experience they gained.

At the event, H.E. Ambassador Astrid Emilie Helle, the Ambassador of Norway to Thailand and Cambodia deliver a warm welcoming speech, followed by Mr. Axel Blom, president of the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce to give a remark to the participants. The event was also honored to have Mrs. Runchita Srivoravilai, Thailand Vertical Lead – Advertiser and Agency at Nielsen (Thailand), as a guest speaker, presenting valuable insights on the topic “Thailand: Supplementary Market Outlook (B2B and B2C market).” This was followed by the introduction of exhibitor companies, including Aker Biomarine, Arctic Bioscience, Ballstad, ConCordix, Epax, Pharma Marine, and Rimfrost. Toward the end of the event, guests enjoyed the joyful networking night to a conclusion.

Furthermore, on 19 September 2024 H.E. Ambassador Astrid Emilie Helle, the Ambassador of Norway to Thailand and Cambodia, along with Mr. Axel Blom, President of the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, visited the Norwegian companies at Vitafoods Asia 2024 including Aker Biomarine, Arctic Bioscience, ConCordix, Epax, Pharma Marine, and Rimfrost. The visiting delegations were welcomed by representatives from each company. The exhibition provides a dedicated platform for Norwegian nutraceutical exhibitors to showcase their notable dietary supplement products to a wide range of relevant industries in Asian markets including Thai market.

Norway, with its extensive coastline of over 83,000 km, including fjords and islands, is one of the global leaders in marine fisheries and aquaculture production. With its vast experience and knowledge of ocean-based activities, Norway prioritises sustainable and environmentally friendly fisheries and aquaculture management. Norwegian waters are teeming with fisheries and fish farms, and the seafood industry is Norway’s second largest exporter. This wealth of marine resources has spurred Norwegian life sciences companies to innovate by extracting useful compounds from marine products. These innovations have led to advancements in health, medicine, and food production, contributing to the development of a blue circular economy.

Norway’s health and life science industry is a pioneer in sustainable health solutions, with particular strengths in the areas of biopharma, medtech and digital health. It has made technological breakthroughs in several areas that have advanced the field of medicine. The Norwegian nutraceuticals is thriving, driven by the presence of numerous top-tier biotech companies. In this regard, the Thai-Norwegian chamber of commerce, in collaboration with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Bangkok, established a platform to enhance the visibility of Norwegian products in the Asian market, with a particular focus on Thailand. The Welcome Reception held in connection with Vitafoods Asia 2024 in Bangkok was a testament to this collaboration.
