DNV Acquires Amplitude Consultants to Boost APAC Grid Expertise
DNV, our corporate member, acquires Amplitude Consultants to strengthen power grids expertise in APAC, Asia Pacific, and accelerate the energy transition.
DNV has acquired Brisbane-based Amplitude Consultants Pty Ltd, an engineering advisory specialising in transmission and distribution power grid services, to enhance its service portfolio in the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. The APAC focus of this acquisition strengthens DNV’s capabilities in grid advisory, power systems planning, and grid connection services, making DNV a significant independent consultancy for power grids in this region.
The acquisition brings together extensive expertise in high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission and flexible AC transmission systems (FACTS), creating APAC’s largest HVDC advisory team. Clients will benefit from exclusive technical know-how and decades of experience, with tailored support for grid expansion, resilience, and digitalisation across the Asia Pacific area.
DNV views this acquisition as timely, responding to the expected doubling of global electricity demand by 2050, with electricity constituting 37% of global final energy use, up from 20% in 2023. In APAC, demand growth is leading but faces challenges that require new solutions for the energy transition.
In the APAC region, the expansion into Australia and New Zealand extends DNV’s operational footprint, enabling more regionally attuned services to address the complex and fast-evolving power grid landscape. In essence, DNV is keen on befriending the unique challenges in APAC to support customers in building resilient, efficient, and future-ready power grids while accelerating the sustainable and safe energy transition across the region.
