Embracing a Greener Tomorrow: Jotun Thailand inaugurates Roof Top Solar
Jotun Thailand, one of our premium members and annual platinum partners, inaugurated Roof Top Solar of 809 Kilowatt Peak (kWp) capacity and successfully installed 1408 solar panels at Paints Finished Goods Warehouse in May 2024 in support of the Green Steps Programme.
With this installation, Jotun will generate up to 1164 megawatt-hours of clean energy, as much as 14 percent of Jotun Thailand’s annual energy needs. At the same time, it will also reduce our carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 579 tonnes per year!
The system has two unique features:
- Remote Terminal Unit: To gather the status of the Solar system and send it to the electricity service provider (B.Grimm) SCADA system.
- Automatic Recloser: Solar system will auto turn off in case any abnormalities are identified.
This initiative is in line with Jotun Group’s sustainability direction! Jotun has just completed phase 1 and is working on phase 2 – Vishal More, Operations Manager Jotun Thailand
Jotun replaced the lights with energy-saving LED lighting and equipped them with automatic electricity timers to further reduce energy wastage across our factories. Jotun is also working on improving the efficiency of our utilities and production equipment to optimise energy usage.
Jotun is happy to share that the facility was inaugurated in the presence of Ms Thea Martine Ottmann (Deputy Head of Mission/Minister Counsellor, Royal Norwegian Embassy) and Mr. Axel Blom (President of Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce) on 13 May 2024.
An important milestone in our sustainability journey here in Thailand. With a clear direction from the Jotun Board of Directors and increasing expectations from the customers and local authorities, this marks an important first step to increasing the share of renewable energy.
