NIST Celebrates Inaugural Global Citizen Diploma & International Award Night
NIST International School, one of our Corporate Members, celebrated its first Global Citizen Diploma and International Award Night, honouring students for their leadership, resilience, and global-minded achievements through programmes that promote personal growth, community service, and responsibility in an interconnected world.
NIST International School recently marked an important milestone with its inaugural Global Citizen Diploma (GCD) & International Award (IA) Night, celebrating students whose dedication, resilience, and global-mindedness exemplify the school’s values.
The evening brought together students, families and educators to recognise those who achieved the Silver and Gold International Awards, as well as those who completed the Global Citizen Diploma or the Diploma with Distinction programmes, which encourage leadership, perseverance and a strong sense of responsibility for the wider world.
The International Award programme challenges students through a multi-year journey that includes community service, skill development, physical activity, and expeditions. Achieving the Gold International Award represents years of commitment and reflects a student’s determination to pursue personal growth while contributing positively to their community.
Alongside this, the Global Citizen Diploma invites students to engage with complex global issues through research, ethical reflection, and community engagement. Through the programme, students explore their world through sustainability, social justice and global responsibility, developing critical thinking and empathy needed to navigate an interconnected world. Achieving the Diploma with Distinction recognises students whose contributions extend beyond traditional expectations.
The inaugural awards night highlighted the remarkable journeys behind these achievements. From demanding expeditions to thoughtful reflections, students demonstrated leadership, creativity, and service that extend far beyond traditional academic expectations.
At NIST, programmes such as the Global Citizen Diploma and International Award form an important part of the school’s commitment to holistic education. By encouraging students to apply their learning beyond the classroom, these initiatives help prepare young people to thrive as thoughtful, compassionate and globally minded citizens.
The evening served as a powerful reminder of the impact young people can make when education nurtures both intellectual growth and a sense of purpose.
