It’s Norwegian Constitution Day

The Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce warmly invites all Norwegians and friends of Norway to join in celebrating Norwegian Constitutional Day on 17 May. This year, we are pleased to feature a special message from our Ambassador, H.E. Mrs. Astrid Emilie Helle, in honour of the occasion.

“On 17 May Norwegians everywhere celebrate our freedom and our constitution of 1814. We celebrate democracy, human rights and the rule of law. We take pride in our welfare state where income distribution and gender equality have brought social stability and economic prosperity.
2025 marks the 120th Anniversary of Norway-Thailand Diplomatic Relations. Our bilateral relations have been flourishing since 1907 when King Chulalongkorn paid a historical visit to Norway. The cornerstones in our relationship are trade and investment, people to people contact, respect for international law and the United Nations Charter. We also share the belief that we need more innovative economic development for a greener and sustainable future.
This year, our trade relations are also highlighted. The signing of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA)-Thailand Free Trade Agreement in January 2025 will certainly enhance trade and investment opportunities between Thailand and the EFTA member states including Norway. Additionally, Norway is ready to support Thailand on its road to become a member of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Multilateralism and international cooperation will help us navigate through economic crises and geopolitical challenges. We look forward to another hundred years of partnership with Thailand at bilateral, regional and international levels.
Dear fellow countrywomen and -men; A very happy national day to you all! May the ties between Norway and Thailand continue to benefit the well-being and happiness of our nations and our people.
Hurrah – Hurrah – Hurrah!”
