SCGC and Mitr Phol drive Sustainable Packaging Innovation
SCG Chemicals, our corporate members, a leading integrated polymer business and solutions for sustainability, has joined forces to develop sustainable packaging and accelerate circular economy through closed-loop recycling for low-carbon society
SCGC, a leader in green polymer solutions, and Mitr Phol, Asia-Pacific’s top sugar producer, have partnered to develop sustainable packaging and accelerate a circular economy. Their collaboration focuses on recycling plastic waste from Mitr Phol’s sugar mills into high-quality recycled resin under SCGC’s GREEN POLYMER™ brand. This recycled material is then used to create new packaging products such as sugar and syrup films and shrink wraps for mineral water bottles. By establishing this closed-loop recycling system, both companies reduce plastic waste and resource consumption, contributing to a low-carbon society.
The initiative aligns with SCGC’s “Low Waste, Low Carbon” strategy and enhances Thailand’s leadership in sustainable packaging innovation. It also complements SCGC’s partnerships with global brands like Unilever, advancing the use of recycled plastics in consumer packaging while maintaining product performance and consumer appeal.
Through this collaboration, SCGC and Mitr Phol are setting a new standard for sustainable industrial business models, fostering environmental responsibility, and supporting the transition towards a more circular and sustainable economy in the Asia-Pacific region.
