Seafood from Norway brings “Norwegian Thai Taste” campaign to Khon Kaen
Khon Kaen, 31 August 2024 – The Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC), our premium member, recently bringing the Seafood from Norway, a country-of-origin logo representing Norwegian seafood caught or raised in the cold clear waters of Norway, has successfully promoted various communication and marketing campaigns in Bangkok over the years and is now taking over Khon Kaen for the first time with the launch of the ‘Norwegian Thai Taste’ campaign, alongside Yaya – Urassaya Sperbund, a Seafood from Norway’s Thailand presenter. The ‘Norwegian Thai Taste’ campaign aims to expand the market and its collaborations with local restaurant and retail partners nationwide through the integration of Norwegian seafood such as Salmon, Norwegian Saba, and Fjord Trout into regional Thai cuisines.
For its nationwide roadshow in Khon Kaen, Seafood from Norway is partnering with Huen Kham Nang, coined as a rustic guesthouse representing Isan gastronomy. The restaurant created a special menu set dedicated to the marriage between premium quality and world-famous Norwegian seafood and the deliciousness of the Northeastern cuisine, consisted of Grilled Norwegian Salmon wrapped in lotus petal with sugarcane juice, Local vegetable salad with Norwegian Salmon in fermented fish and white sesame sauce, Norwegian Saba soup with cowa leaves, Norwegian Saba chili paste with pickled cabbage in coconut juice, Baked Fjord Trout in bamboo, and Grilled Fjord Trout with Thai olive salad, served with sticky rice. These dishes will be featured on Huen Kham Nang menu until October 2024.
Ms. Åshild Nakken, Southeast Asia Regional Director, the Norwegian Seafood Council (NSC) said, “We are truly excited to be exploring the deliciousness of the Northeastern Thai cuisine through the use of Norwegian seafood, together with Huen Kham Nang restaurant in Khon Kaen. Salmon, Norwegian Saba, and Fjord trout have a unique taste, texture, and versatility, and a strong position in the market. They are raised and harvested in the cold, clear waters of Norway that provide the perfect living conditions for fish to thrive and where the aquaculture industry places high importance on sustainability. This presents a great opportunity for local Thai businesses along the value chain to benefit off of the integration of Norwegian seafood into Thai cuisine.”
Ms. Nutthaporn Komjit, founder of Huen Kham Nang restaurant, said, “It is a great pleasure to receive this opportunity to represent Khon Kaen through our gastronomic creations for our special guests using the finest ingredients from Norway, combined with the culinary arts and wisdom of the Isan people. I believe that by teaming up with Seafood from Norway, we can be a great source of inspirations, create value for the Isan food scene, and become a gateway to our rich culture.”
‘Norwegian Thai Taste’ campaign’s luncheon in Khon Kaen was honored by the presence of Ms. Thea Martine Ottmann, Chargée d’affaires a.i., Royal Norwegian Embassy in Thailand, and joined by Yaya – Urassaya Sperbund, a Seafood from Norway’s Thailand presenter, retail partners, local media, and influencers. Nationwide in-store promotions with Makro, Tops, Big C, Lotus’s, Foodland, and Thammachart Seafood will be running throughout September 2024. Additionally, Big C Khon Kaen is holding an activity with games to win prizes at Norwegian Thai Taste tasting booth between 30 August – 1 September 2024.
