On 25 September 2024, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Krabi Office, together with the SKÅL Krabi Club and tourism network partners in Krabi, hosted the launch of SKÅL International Connecting Tourism Global 2024 at The ShellSea Krabi I Luxury Beach Resort & Pool Villas. In the event, there were Mr. Chaiwat Tamthai, Director of TAT Krabi Office, along with Ms. Ingeborg, President of SKÅL Krabi, Mr. Stefano, Vice President of SKÅL Krabi, and both Thai and international tourism stakeholders.
The purpose of this event was to promote the gathering of SKÅL members in the Krabi area, with the aim of creating a network of tourism and hospitality entrepreneurs. This event held over 100 attendees, both Thai and international business owners. Moreover, new member registrations are welcome during the event.
In addition to the event content, the Director of TAT Krabi Office explained that SKÅL International is a professional global organisation that promotes tourism by connecting all sectors of the tourism industry. It has over 301 branches in 84 countries; however in Thailand, there are five branches located in Bangkok, Krabi, Phuket, Samui, and Pattaya, with over 10,000 members worldwide. These members play a pivotal role in recommending destinations and providing tourism services both in domestically and globally.
As for Krabi’s tourism outlook, the number of tourists in the first seven months of 2024 has already surpassed that of 2023, and it is anticipated that by the end of this year, the number of tourists will return to near 2019 levels, with approximately 6.8 million visitors. TAT has set a direction for tourism promotion by focusing on a variety of events throughout the year to attract tourists to Krabi year-round, while emphasising “Sustainable Krabi” tourism, aiming to ensure visitors enjoy the province’s pristine natural beauty with every visit.
