Thai Airways commits to Carbon Reduction with Solar Power Installation at Headquarters
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI), one of our premium members, has made further, more powerful commitments to reducing carbon emissions in company activities by installing a solar power system.
On 12 June, 2025, Ms.Chuntarica Jotikasthira, Chief Human Resources Officer of Thai Airways, signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Mr. Frank Kluck, CEO of Green Yellow (Thailand) Co., Ltd., to install a solar power system at the airline’s headquarters. The system includes rooftop solar panels and a solar carport, with a total installed capacity of 999.7 kWp. It is expected to generate approximately 1,359 MWh of electricity annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 589 tons per year.
This 20-year agreement reflects Thai Airways’ strong commitment to sustainability strategy, aiming for net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The project aligns with the company’s “From Plane to Planet” vision, which emphasises environmental responsibility and supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 13: (Climate Action).
The headquarters solar project serves as a model for renewable energy adoption within the organisation, optimising space usage and reducing reliance on the main electricity grid. Under the “Collaborate” strategic approach, Thai Airways partners with like-minded organisations to create shared value for society and the environment. This initiative not only benefits Thai Airways but also encourages other businesses to embrace clean energy for a more sustainable future.
