The Norwegian government presented its offshore wind strategy at Aibel

The Norwegian government presented its offshore wind strategy at Aibel

On 5 August, as Aibel, our premium member, is among the leading Norwegian suppliers to the offshore wind industry, three ministers, Minister of Trade and Industry, Cecilie Myrseth, Minister of Energy, Terje Aasland, and the Minister of Climate and Environment, Andreas Bjelland Eriksen, had asked if Aibel and the yard in Haugesund could be used as venue for the presentation of the strategy that outlines how Norwegian suppliers can participate in the development of offshore wind on the Norwegian continental shelf, in international markets, and how the government will continue to facilitate this.

The ministers emphasised that the development of offshore wind on the Norwegian continental shelf is important for increased power production, technology development, job creation, and emission reductions.

After the presentation, everyone was invited on a tour onboard the Hornsea 3 Link 1 offshore wind platform, which is currently undergoing completion in Haugesund. The ministers also greeted and talked to some of Aibel’s apprentices and employees from Solstein, the adapted workplace that catered for the event.
