Trade Figures for Jan-Dec 2025 released by Norway Connect
Norway Connect, our premium member, has released updated trade figures for the period January–December 2025. To provide a clear perspective on market trends, the data includes a comprehensive comparison with historical records spanning from 2019 to 2024.
Exports from Norway to Thailand reached NOK 5,760 million for January–December 2025, slightly increase (+3.5%) compared to the same period in 2024, while imports from Thailand rose to NOK 8,330 million (+25.8% year-on-year). Seafood exports to Thailand are up by 16% in value (but 36% in fresh salmonids volume) as compared to the same period last year, while fertilisers are down by 9%. Aibel’s exports are up by 59% with two major shipments for Hornsea 3 arriving in Norway in June and December. These shipments are very important for Thailand’s export.
Looking at tourism to Norway, the number of Thai room nights in Norway have improved enormously. April was so far the best month ever with almost 10,400 room nights (against 5,000 in 2024), but in October we beat that figure by 300 to 10,600 room nights. Norway Connect’s prediction is that hotels in Northern Norway will hit 70,000 room nights for the full year, which is 37% above last year. Northern Norway is the region that continues to show the biggest increase with 54% over 2024 and 15% above the month of October 2024, but in November 2025 we saw a drop (-29%) compared to last year for the first time this year. The reason could be that the hotels are simply fully booked. For those interested in the Northern Lights, you can find a fascinating report on Aurora tourism, recently released by Innovation Norway.
Export from Norway for 2025 is split like this:
- Seafood 61% NOK 3,535 million
- Fertilisers 18% NOK 1,022 million
- Other goods 21% NOK 1,214 million
- Total NOK 5,764 million (=+3.5%) vs export from Thailand NOK 8,334 million (=+26%)
