Yara’s Proud History in Thailand-Norway Relations: Delighted to Welcome the Ambassador of Norway to the BKK Office
The Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce is delighted to share the visit of H.E. Astrid Emilie Helle, the Ambassador of Norway in Thailand at Yara’s, one of our Premium Members, Bangkok office. During the visit, there was a pleasant, important discussion with the ambassador regarding Yara and the Norwegian Embassy collaboration.
Yara Africa & Asia is honoured to receive the visit of H.E. Astrid Emilie Helle, Ambassador of Norway to Thailand, at their Bangkok office this month.
Beda Merkelbach, SVP for Asia-Pacific, Nantiya Pitakwongdeengam, Thailand Country Director, and Pongsin Thepruangchai, Government Relations and Public Affairs Manager, had a fruitful discussion with the Ambassador on the collaboration between Yara and the Norwegian Embassy, especially as Thailand and Norway prepare to commemorate the 120th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations in 2025.
Their guests from the Norwegian Embassy also had a chance to meet with the Yara Thailand team, where the Ambassador shared fascinating stories on the relations between Thailand and Norway, as well as insights into the Norwegian culture and food traditions.
As Thailand celebrates King Chulalongkorn Memorial Day on 23rd October, Yara and the Norwegian Embassy both looked back at His Majesty’s visit to Norway in 1907.
Known as the “development king”, King Chulalongkorn was a curious leader who explored the world in search of new technologies, which brought him to the Yara plant in Notodden 117 years ago. Impressed with the fertiliser innovation that he saw, the king ordered a batch of fertiliser, making Thailand Yara’s first foreign customer. Today, Yara remains a trusted crop nutrition brand across Thailand.
Yara appreciates the Norwegian Embassy for the continued support in our shared objective to promote Norwegian cooperation with Thailand in sustainable development and food production!
