Ocean Ambassador Jayne Rigby has led Liverpool SUP Co to win an Echo Environment Award for her Starboard in the City initiative.
Starboard Co., a premium member of the Thai-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce, thanked Ocean Ambassador Jayne Rigby for her Starboard in the City initiative, recognising those across Liverpool who live up to its ethos, leading Liverpool SUP Co to win an Echo Environment Award. Importantly, Liverpool SUP Co has dedicated its time and passion to a greener and more sustainable world. Besides, Starboard in the City started and is thriving thanks to Jayne at Liverpool SUP Co. In fact, thanks to these efforts, they won the Community Impact Award.
The nomination
This award recognises local communities working together, promoting positive neighbourhood improvement projects and communities which make the best use of green space, including their work with Starboard in the City. Some of the things the Liverpool SUP CO team has already done so far include; litter picks on the water, working with local groups in local parks and CRT on the water and the beach, as well as a marine conservation workshop.
Moreover, the initiative aims to get more people in our community engaged and talking about ways we can help save our oceans and our environment and truly make a difference. Additionally, let’s check out what is on Liverpool SUP Co’s radar moving forward.
- SUP Clean-Up Sessions
- Beach Cleans
- Community Litter Picks around our local parks
- Shoreline Workshops, classes, and talks highlighting the importance of Marine Conservation
- Collaborations with local schools and universities
- Supporting Local Businesses and offering corporate cleans and events
- Working with local ‘friends of’ groups to host events
- Working with Local Councils to help make positive environmental changes within the Liverpool City Region
Starboard in the City
This programme brings together schools, local beaches, park clean-up groups, along with local councils. Starboard in the City is bringing together the community to learn from workshops and litter picks, all to clean up our planet. Most of the clean-ups hosted by Liverpool SUP Club are on paddleboards, making the experience even more enjoyable for the local community.
